VoLTE Roaming Guide
The shift is staggering. In just five years, VoLTE subscriptions are forecast to hit 3 billion and represent 60 percent of all LTE subscriptions. VoLTE is truly a revolution that has arrived, and operators without a strategy to integrate its innovative voice services will soon face these challenges:
- Cost-efficiency disadvantage as VoLTE-enabled operators realize savings from the capability to integrate voice and data on a single network.
- Increasing user enthusiasm for OTT services that not only provide advanced voice services, but also integrated video and messaging capabilities.
- Not having a solution puts an operator at risk and not being able to attract subscribers as it transitions to IP services.
- An operator can become perceived as a last-choice route or low-quality route because of the inability to provide high-quality voice or video services.
The consensus among today’s global operators is that VoLTE roaming, in addition to Video over LTE (ViLTE) and Rich Communication Services (RCS), will make a significant addition to their all IP-based mobile services. Ultimately, mobile operators will need a supportive foundational interface that will create a secure and capable interconnection.
Syniverse is a leader in preparing operators to make the leap to VoLTE, and our collected best practices are available in a new series of guides. Our latest guide covers one of the most critical components of VoLTE integration – roaming.
